The Season so Far!

So far so good.
Seven league matches, dropping only 4 points, which incidentally is just as many as the Chavskis. Good wins in the derby and against the Manc's inclusive. In the Champs league, we are leading the group, and Torres is back to scoring form. And Riera is not that bad at all, is he?

So where do our current demons lie?
1) The way we struggled to break down the also rans like Stoke City.
2) Having to already come back in 4 games so far this season to win, which though, shows a fighting mentality, cannot take away from the fact that we are conceding before the opposition is.
3) Quite a lot of scrappy wins, which, had luck gone another way, would have seen us mid-table to be honest.

The good stuff though, is that Kuyt has been looking very good this season, thus sort of patching up our right side woes to some extent. But I honestly feel that the reason Kuyt is looking so good is because Arbeloa is seeing some of his best days on the field. Take the derby match, for example. The way Alonso, Kuyt abd Arbeloa were linking up at the right was awe inspiring to a fan. Which brings us to the next problem, with 'freeboy' Degen already out injured and Finnan having been part of the Riera deal, where is the backup for Arbeloa? Yes, Carra can play right back too, but is he going to be able to come out as aggressively as Arbeloa is right now? In such a situation, Carra and Kuyt start looking redundant. And then, with Skrtel put away for 3 months, we will have to play Hyppia every week, and Darby for the Champs league matches!
All we can hope for is that we are lucky till January, and Rafa buys some cover for Arbeloa then. Another problem is our inability to unlock Stoke-like defences, for which I propose we play Pennant against the 'bus-in-the-goal' teams, and choose Kuyt for the ones who should think of attacking too. Provided Kuyt's great defensively too, but no point defending if the other team doesn't intend to attack, is it?

Lastly, I was wondering what will happen if the teams stand thus in the last week. Well, for one, it will mean that Hull will play in Europe, and Tottenham in the Championship! And we should be able to get our hands on the Bales and the Lennons!!

Kick Off!

Before the blog address draws criticism, I'd like to point out that whatever name I try, blogger said it was unavailable. Contenders (the available ones) for the first part of the address were desiscouser, red-desi or desi-red, but though they conveyed the spirit, none of them were catchy enough. So I stuck to liverpondy, mixing Liverpool (the greatest football club in the world), and desipondy (my internet handle, also the name of my first blog). So thats about the name. I thought The Desi Scouser will be a good title, so thats the end of it.

So what do I intend to do here? I am no expert footballer (or analyst) , nor have I been a football enthusiast since birth, but the only thing that I can assure, is that I will be a football enthusiast, and a Liverpool fan at that, till I die. That must settle it, I guess. So again, what should someone expect here? Well, nothing that might not come across the mind of a Reds fan during the season, or even more importantly, in the summer. The posts will not strictly be limited to Liverpool, as you will soon realize.

That should be it for the time being.
So long, YNWA.

P.S. - If you know a better name, get back to me.
